Doug became an NRHA judge in 1980, an AQHA judge in 1982 and is a certified FEI judge.

He has judged shows in Canada, South America, Europe, New Zealand, Australia and within the mainland United States as well as Hawaii and Alaska.

Doug contributed to the guidelines for the inception of Freestyle Reining and he remains active providing input to the NRHA pertaining to rule and by-law changes. Doug also teaches NRHA Judges Schools/Seminars.
